Stakeholder Consultations on Proposed Legislative Reform
In pursuit of the Social Security Board’s mission and guided by the four priority areas outlined in our Strategic Plan, “Scheme Modernization” is a tenet that informs the SSB’s work. The organization is embarking on a deliberate and forward-looking process to amend the legislation to ensure the scheme remains relevant, equitable, and sustainable for generations to come.
This year marked the start of a series of consultations that began in February and should conclude in April, as the SSB meets with relevant stakeholders to discuss two proposed amendments – changing from a wage-based system to a percentage-based system to calculate contributions and raising the contribution floor to $130.
